SX RANGE(FAST DISPLACEMENT)
Changes are afoot in the world of superyacht design. Hull and superstructure designs set physical limits but within that framework, there's plenty of room for interpretation. Sanlorenzo's SX88 is the first of a new line being dubbed as a crossover with an overall design aesthetic focused on "a superyacht that feels like an open loft."
The SX88 represents a successful and clever combination between classic flybridge motoryachts, a segment in which Sanlorenzo is a world leader, and the recently expanding Explorer class, in which Sanlorenzo has had great success with the award-winning 42m 460 EXP.
The SX88 offers wide open spaces and large glass windows, assuring an effective and optimized relationship between interior and exterior, required by the most experienced Owners.
The high, protected bow has explorer DNA, while also allowing the side bulwarks to taper downward as they move aft toward the transom. While the carbon-fiber superstructure is light and airy, Sanlorenzo designed the fiberglass hull like an oceangoing vessel, even going to the point of tank-testing it in the Netherlands. The boat, with twin IPS 1200 drives, is expected to top out at 23 knots. Rina's ìGreen Classî designation is partly due to the onboard lithium battery system, which runs the house systems for four to eight hours with zero emissions.
As on a large superyacht, the only steering position is on the upper deck. On the flybridge, the aft section is open for great views or alfresco dining, while the space under the hardtop can be enclosed and air-conditioned. Although the yacht's sole helm station is protected by a fixed windshield, the 9-feet long side windows can be lowered, making you one with your surroundings in a superb lounge area.
The open rear cockpit sits five steps lower than the main deck and can accommodate a host of toys including a 15ft tender and jet ski. The crane to move these watercrafts is cleverly and elegantly hidden in the prolonged profile of the handrail, with no disturbance to the eye-catching SX88 outline.† Upon deploying the watercrafts, the wide stern area offers an unparalleled 323 sq. ft. of beach club space, shaded by parasols and furnished to enjoy life at the water's edge.
The convertible interior is where the new Sanlorenzo SX88 really shines. Owners have a choice of either opting for a rear saloon and master suite forward, or leaving the whole area open-plan. Because the helm is on the deck above, and the galley is open, the main deck is wide-open space from stern to bow. Floor-to-ceiling windows and no interior bulkheads also minimize the divisions between the interior and exterior. Unlike most yachts, where fixed furniture is placed strategically, the SX88's freestanding tables, chairs, and loungers are spread about like a beautiful home.
On her lower deck, the SX88 offers four (or five as an option) cabins. If the open layout on the main deck is chosen, the full beam Owner's cabin is on the lower deck. If the Owner's cabin is on the main deck, a three (or four as option) cabin layout is offered with the galley on the lower deck.
